Regarding the name

Dead Reckoning is my notebook of data engineering. It's where I park my thoughts on stuff like building pipelines, wrangling data, and learning how to process it. Getting it from where it is to where it matters is a challenge I find to be interesting, practical, and increasingly necessary in our increasingly uncertain times.

The name of the notebook reflects my mindset: navigation clouded, tracking what's known, and trusting intuition.

Each week, I post build notes that include what's shipped lately, what broke, and what I’m learning. My stack includes Spark, Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, Kafka, and whatever else I can make run on my homelab at my garage lair in Portland.
